The People's Potato collective is back with a second edition of the ever popular Vegan on a Shoestring cookbook. This new edition builds on the original cookbook - outlining the basics of vegan cooking with a healthy dose of radical food politics and includes over 100 exciting new and revamped recipies. The focus here is on making vegan food both accessible and inexpensive while placing this way of eating within an anti-capitalist social and ecological context. The recipes found in this cookbook are the collaborative creations of the People's Potato cooks who are usually to be found cooking up free or by donation vegan meals or 400 each day at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
"The People's Potato has done it again with more fabulous recipes for vegans (and ex-vegans) who want to eat well and save their cash for shows and beer. Amazing!"
-Double Dip, Montreal Queercore band
"The latest collection of new and improved recipes will not only excite original Vegan on a Shoestring fans - not to mention their tastebuds - but will also naturally inspire new ones."
-QPIRG Concordia
Cookbooks are available for sale in our kitchen for $10-$20 sliding scale. Keep posted for other ordering information.
The People’s Potato is a vegan soup kitchen at Concordia University - a student initiated project that was founded in 1999 in order to address student poverty. We offer by donation meals each day of the week during the Fall and Winter semesters. We serve more than 400 meals daily to students, community members with the help of our dedicated volunteers. We are committed to educating about healthy cooking and food politics and to broader goals of social and environmental justice.
